Yes to God Study - Week 6 - It Isn't Easy

This week, we are covering Chapter 6 (If It Were Easy, It Wouldn't Be Worth Doing) of Lysa TerKeurst's book, What Happens When Women Say Yes to God. It talks about how it can be difficult to say yes to God. I encourage you to click on the button above and visit Lelia's blog to read the thoughts and testimonies of other women.

Eventhough I can clearly see blessings resulting from my obedience to God, I still struggle. To be honest, I am drained by the battle. This week, I am tired of not knowing what may happen to my job, applying to other jobs with no response, and questioning God about it all.

It can be difficult to see what God is doing in and through a situation when you are in the middle of it. Am I seeking God's guidance, praying, and reading my Bible? Yes. Do I know God is in control? Yes. Do I believe he has a plan with perfect timing? Yes. Then, why isn't that enough?

Although I know it to be true, that does not mean I always FEEL it to be true. I am reminded of what our pastor says during the call to salvation, "it is not a matter of your FEELING but a matter of your FAITH." The struggle is in moving the focus from my feelings to my faith. Right now, I am holding on to this passage:

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Romans 8:26-28 (MSG)
Lord, thank you for helping me along when I grow weary. I ask you to strengthen my faith and remove my doubts. Please direct my path to follow your will. Thank you in advance for working every detail into something good. Amen.

Great post!
I too struggle during difficult times; I focus on my fears instead of my faith. But He is so patient and faithful, amen?

I will say a prayer right now for you about your job!
God Bless,

There is always that opportunity to struggle with these situations-but sometimes we allow the stuggle to control us and not our faith in God handling it. I try to find a piece of scripture to rely on during the really tough times-my favorite is Ps 40:1-3!! I will pray in this for you. God is your provision, your protection and He is there for you!!

Really good post! I, too, struggle! It is so hard sometimes. Even though we know what we are supposed to do--and we even know that we WANT to do that--we still struggle.

But God is so good! Will be praying for you!

P.S. I just posted a blog entry about comforting Bible verses. Why don't you stop by and get fueled up on verses as well as leave a few of your encouraging words! :)

I so understand your thoughts! I have had the same questions in my mind too and it is sometimes difficult to see what He is doing when you are in the middle of it. His silence during our waiting will certainly keep us focused on our faith. Keep looking at Him. Just be obedient in what you know right now. He is faithful!
Praying for you!

Waiting has got to be one of the hardest things. We pray and then don't see immediate results and our human nature says, "He said no." In today's push button society, it is hard to do some old fashioned waiting. I'm the worst at it!! Thankfully He doesn't kick us out the door for impatience. :)

Wow, I should have come by here for a visit sooner. This looks like a great study!

Anyway, I just came by to let you know that you won "The Busy Mom's Devotional" over at my place, so if you will email me with your mailing address, I'll get it to Lisa and she'll send you your book!

Congratulations, I think you'll really like it.
